If you are a true food lover, travel in expectation of an experience considering the local cuisine, cooking is your passion or just want to learn a few new recipes, this is an ideal tour for you. Buy locally, visit Zadar`s grocery market, a place where residents of the hinterland and islands sell their organic fruits, vegetables and homemade products. Choose the ingredients you would like to cook and prepare the feast for all your senses in the hinterland of Zadar.

We highly recommend a preparation of Peka dish, traditional Dalmatian festive meal of veal meat and vegetables baked in a pot or a tray that is covered with the iron bell dome and put into the embers of a fireplace.

Spend a day cooking and enjoying in great food and wine. Start by visiting the local market where residents sell their organically grown fruits and vegetables. It is a vibrant, colorful place where islanders and residents of the hinterland bring their organically grown fruits and homemade products. You will be amazed by the various kinds of cheese, honey, bacon, olive oils, herb schnapps`, dried-fig and nuts products… Pick the ingredients you are going to need for the lunch preparation. Choose fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, red potatoes, Mediterranean spices such as rosemary, laurel, sage or thyme. Pay a visit to the local butcher and fish market. There is a wide assortment of meat, fish and sea food.

After the shopping is done, we are heading towards to rural estate in the hinterlands of Zadar. Picturesque village of Nadin was founded in Antique era by the Romans. They brought first vines and cultivated vineyards. Nowadays Nadin is known as the most ecological village in Croatia.

Rural estate is surrounded by olive oils, vineyards and greenery. You will prepare your food in the traditional environment of an old Nadin`s household. Your hosts will show you how the food was being prepared there over the centuries. They will knead the dough so you could bake homemade bread that is recommended eating hot dipped in the olive oil with the pinch of coarse salt. While waiting for the lunch to be done, have some marenda like people in Dalmatia do. It is traditional snack between breakfast and lunch.

Enjoy the wonderful sights of Nadin and fresh air of the hinterland. Taste Dalmatian flavors and have a great time on your cooking class.
