Island of Iž is situated in the Zadar archipelago, between the islands of Ugljan and Dugi Otok. It is surrounded by dozen of smaller islets. There are just two villages on the island: Veli Iž and Mali Iž. It`s the one of most picturesque islands of the archipelago covered with olive grows and Mediterranean forest. Traditional handwheel pottery making from the island of Iž is listed on UNESCO`s list of World intangible cultural heritage.
Cruising day starts by exploring numerous islets and cliffs of the Zadar archipelago. While sailing towards island of Iž, the boat passes through the sea strait of Mali Ždrelac beyond which lies the bridge that connects the islands of Ugljan and Pašman. Village Mali Iž, with less than 200 inhabitants stands on the southern part of the island and has been inhabited since the ancient times. Traditional occupations are fishing and agriculture,. Examples of the old Dalmatian architectural style are still visible on every step. A hidden cove of Vodenjak (Croatian word for Amnion) is situated near the village. Because of its natural beauties and authenticity it is one of the most beautiful bays of the Zadar archipelago.
